It's A..........

GIRL!!!!  In case you couldn't tell by the new look of our blog.....we found out today that we are having a little girl! We were shocked to find out that the little baby inside of me was a girl because we had been convinced it was a boy this whole time. However, we are absolutely thrilled. My parents and Garrett's parents both came down to attend the ultrasound so they could see their first grandchild!

We have some wonderful time with our families over the past week. We have gotten to spend time with ALL of our siblings....which is amazing since they are so spread out....Greenville, California, and South Korea.  I know we both feel so blessed to have had this time with them.

Garrett's parents got us a really cool video camera for Christmas, so I will definitely try to post some of those soon.  Some of them are truly hilarious.  Anyway, I hope everyones holidays were as wonderful as ours were!

Strep Throat

I think there is only one word that describes the current state of Team Reed....Exhausted!!!! The store finally opened on December 11th, and I think we are all thankful to have that behind us. While it was a wonderful experience and everything went great, I don't think either of has been this tired in quite some time (hopefully this is good prep for bringing the baby home).  We are definitely still sorting through things and trying to get settled in at the store but the hardest part seems to be behind us.

However, we are now experiencing the wrath of working that much for that long.  After multiple 80 hour weeks, Garrett has come down with Strep Throat. He had a fever and felt pretty terrible all week but after a day off continued to try to work through it.  However, after a visit to the doctor this morning...Garrett is officially in rest mode and on a few different drugs. Hopefully we can get him well before the family begins to arrive on Wednesday.

Since we are unable to get time off over the holidays, our families have graciously agreed to come spend Christmas with us in Charleston.  My parents, my sister, my brother-in-law, and my Nanna will all be here on Wednesday!!!!  Then Garrett's whole family, parents, grandparents, brother and his wife, and sister and her new boyfriend are all going to be here for the whole week after Christmas.  I cannot wait to spend time with everyone!!!  We are so spread out from all of our siblings these days so we are thrilled to get some time with them.

In addition, our big doctors appointment in December 30th, so all of the families will be around to see if we are going to be having a little boy or a little girl.  We are so excited to see our little baby again and pray that it is healthy and doing well.  I will definitely post after that d doctors visit.

Hope everyone is doing well and hope you all have a MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Completely moved.....and the computer broke!

Well we are completely moved to Charleston. All of our stuff is there and I am working there full time. Garrett is mostly there but will still be back and forth until the last weekend in November. I honestly feel like I am losing my mind a little bit.....My pregnant brain has turned to mush and doesn't really seem to work any more.

The house we are renting out at Wild Dunes seems to have a slight rat problem....yes you heard me, rats. We have had the attic cleaned out twice now to get rid of the rats and the little presents that they leave behind. My hope is that they are gone for good, but I am definitely not counting on it.

In addition to this, our computer (which wasn't exactly ours, it belonged to work)....broke. Luckily, Garrett and I came to spend the weekend with my mom (my dad is working in Siberia for the week) so she has graciously allowed us to use her computer to catch up on bills, email, etc. We have been computer shopping but can't decide what to do...we will have to make a decision sooner than later.

Not a whole lot else to write about....the store opens in early December, so we will be a little out of touch until i don't know like april..........just kidding....sort of. We are already missing our friends and family in Greenville but are glad to be reunited with some of our favorite people in Charleston.
Until we can get our hands on a working computer again......we love you all!

Where to begin.........

Seriously, I think that our lives can't get crazier...and then they get crazier. Luckily amidst the chaos we got to take 8 whole days off to go on our annual Brantley/Reed vacation. Every year we go on vacation with our friends Adam and Mandy Brantley. We usually just go to Garrett's grandparent's house at Fripp Island, but this year we went all out and went on a cruise. We went to Honudras, Mexico, and the Bahamas. We were supposed to also go to Belize but the weather was too bad. Anyway....we had a great time.... it was sad to see it end.

What we came back to was absolute craziness at work and an impending move. I have been back and forth to Charleston over the past two weeks and Garrett is in Atlanta this whole week. And then on Saturday (two days from now) I am officially moving to Charleston. I will definitely take some pictures of our super funky house....funky is not a good thing. However, it is two blocks from the beach so I will try not to complain too much.
In other exciting news, we got to see our baby again two weeks ago, and we got to hear the heart beat for the first time....IT WAS AMAZING. Only about 6 more weeks until we will know if it is a boy or a girl. The only problem we have encountered with this is that Garrett's grandmother, Janet, says she does not want to know the sex of the baby until it is born....that might be tricky!
Anyway below are a few pics from our super fun vacation. Enjoy!

Baby Stuff!

We officially recieved our first baby gift! Last night we were so lucky to hang out with our friends Sandy and Jason Lesley. Sandy and Jason actually did our premarital counseling....which is why we have such a stellar marriage. Anyway, we went and hung out at their house for a while. Which I should note that their house is probably my favorite house ever...I say this for mulitple reasons...the first being that it actually looks like a barn on the outside and a home on the inside. Seriously, Southern Living needs to make an appearance at their house....so many cool things about this house..I could go on and on. It is out in the country in Pelzer (Jason's family has land out there and they all live around them)...but the coolest thing is that they built the whole thing themselves..it took a few years, but a few years well spent!

Anyway, they have the cutest little one year old, Canon. Canon was nice enough to pass down a little tiny Clemson t-shirt to baby Reed. The shirt looks bigger in the picture because we are so close to the camera, but in real life it looks so small. I can't believe our little person will be wearing in within the year!

Ok, I think it is time to change the poll on our blog. Clearly, an oreo is black and white....and those of you of think dark brown and white...remember that the next time you go somewhere and see two black things surrounding something white and you are tempted to go..."oh look, an oreo." And our poll got scued because Garrett kept voting from other computers....what a cheater. Hopefully our child won't get his values.

Anyway, the poll will be taking bets.....Do you think the Reed baby is going to be a boy or a girl.....my hunch is a boy but don't vote based on my hunch. I mean what do I know, I am just its mother.

Pooped...........

Ok, I must start by saying that there are many reasons that I have not touched our blog in a while. Hopefully all you people that are complaining about the lack of posting can have grace with us... OUR LIFE HAS TAKEN A TURN FOR THE CRAZY SIDE!!!! We have been traveling so much that I wake up not knowing where I am most days. It all started a little over a month ago when I decided to take an impromtu trip to Denver to visit my best friend Mandy (who also happens to be the mother of Garrett and I's first and only godchild). My trip was super fun, I loved every second that I spent with Adam, Mandy, and little Harrison...here are a few pics. While in Denver it occured to me that there was a serious chance that I could be pregnant... yes you heard correctly, pregnant. However, I decided to wait until I got home and was with Garrett to try to confirm this hunch. So, within 4 hours of being home, Garrett and I were able to confirm that yes....WE ARE PREGNANT! Obviously, we are thrilled but life has kicked into overdrive since the second we found out. We have spent about two of the past three weeks in Charleston...however, it hasn't been a solid two weeks, it has been a back and forth two weeks...consisting of about 3 different trips. I aslo rode with my parents to Missouri for my cousins wedding... yes we drove to Missouri...just me, mom, and dad.

We have finally found a house in Charleston which is exciting. It is out at Wild Dunes which is great because it is close to Garrett's parents condo. Our lease starts the first of November, so if it is looking like the store is still going to open in early December, then I will go ahead and move down then. I have also found a new doctor in Charleston and will start seeing her at the end of October...so we are excited about that.

Garrett is doing great....just continuing to work his tail off while being excited about becoming a dad. We had are first ultrasound last week...so here is the first picture of our very little baby. I will go ahead and preface the picture with this.....no there are not twins! The bigger blob on the left is the baby....the smaller blob to the right of the bigger blob is the yolk sack...it goes away when the placenta is fully formed and takes over.

Anyway, hope you all can have grace with us for not posting more often....we are definitely a little overwhelmed but excited by life. Love you all!

Loving Life...

Hands down this is my favorite time of year. Summer is almost over and fall is days away. College football has finally begun... and USC won their season opener. Obviously Garrett was upset about Clemson losing...however we got to watch the game over at Mark and Beth's which was fun...so I think that helped to alleviate some of the pain.
On a total side note...did anyone else know that there are chat groups online dedicated solely to discussing the weather? I just made this discovery last night when I was checking the hurricane status on foxnews.com. All that to say...I joined one they other day. My participation didn't last long as it was late and the people in the group seriously just wanted to talk about weather...I unsuccessfully tried to change the subject multiple times..they are intense. I highly recommend checking it out.
Anyway, the past few weeks have been fun and full of time with family and friends. Some of the highlights include but are not limited to....
  • Charley Spann's baby dedication

Donald and Mary Beth Spann are some of Garrett and I's closest friends here in Greenville (it should be noted that both Donald and Mary Beth are both CofC grads...go Cougars!) Charlotte "Charley" Rose Spann was born on April 30, 2008. On Saturday August 23, 2008 we got to gather with our closest friends and Donald and Mary Beth's families to worship and thank the Lord for Charley and to pray over D & MB as they begin their journey into parenthood. It was such an amazing and sweet time. Garrett and I are so blessed to be a part of their lives and are so thankful for their friendship.

  • Dinner with parents and grandparents Reed

After Charley's baby dedication, G and I went to dinner with his parents and grandparents. We all went to the Lazy Goat (our fave) to celebrate G and I's anniversary and Len and Paw Paw's b-days. Words can't describe how fun it was to be with the family....we are so thankful for every second we get with them!

  • Trips to Atlanta for both Garrett and I

Garrett went to a training with our friend John (pictured above..he and his wife Kelly are some of our best friends and our co-workers), and I went to meet with my fellow trainers...we really do love our jobs which is nice. John and Kelly are making the move to Charleston too...which makes us happy because we really love them.

  • A visit from one of my fave friends, Margaret.
  • No pictures of this one...which is fine because they wouldn't have done the visit justice. We went for a super amazing walk and then had the best lunch at Mary's. I loved every second I spent with Margaret...can't wait to live in the same town as her again!

  • Going to the USA Cycling Championships,

  • Another perk to living downtown, the USA Cycling Championships happened outside our front door. Garrett got an amazing picture of George Hincapie (if you don't know who he is shame on you)! Also, while the racers made their way up Paris Mountain, they had a kids race downtown. My friend Grace (pictured above in the pink shirt) rode in the race...she did a great job! Garrett got some great pictures of her race.

  • Spending time with Courtney
  • Court leaves for California tomorrow!!! She is going to a bible college out there for the next year. I am definitely going to miss her but I am excited for her. Luckily we got to spend all of Sunday evening with her...we watched the Sound of Music (Courtney's first viewing...can you believe that???) and we played a killer game of Canasta. I am not sure anyone has ever had a better send off!

  • Surprise visits at work from my sister and brother-in-law.

No pictures of this either but it was fun when they showed up to see us. They live about an hour from where we work, so it was really fun to have them make the trip to see us....they rock.

All of that to say....Life is fun and the Lord is good. I am daily amazed that the Lord not only created us and redeemed us but that he also chooses to bless us the way he does. That is something I have been in awe of over the past few weeks..not sure if I will ever fully wrap my mind around it.

Tres Anos

I'm not sure if any of you all can believe it because I know I can't....but Garrett and I have been married for THREE YEARS as of yesterday! I really cannot believe how fast time has gone by...however, when I really think about it we have crammed a lot into the past three years, so far we have received a few degrees, lived in 5 houses, and had 6 different jobs between the two of us! Anyway, I could spend hours walking down memory lane...but I won't. However, I should also note that yesterday was also Garrett's dad's b-day....Happy Birthday Len! We celebrated yesterdays events with the Reed's at the Piedmont Club last night...super fun and super yummy!

Our fun summer is coming to an end. We have been so thankful to be able to spend some wonderful time with friends and family over the summer. Most recently we went to Williamsburg for Rachel and Chris's wedding and over the past two weeks we have spent lots of time in the mountains.....I feel like we have been running (not physically running because we don't do that) up there as often as possible. We took a day trip last week to the Blue Ridge Parkway and hiked around Graveyard Fields and this past weekend we went and stayed at the Highland Lake Inn to celebrate our anniversary. I love the Highland Lake Inn because it is like going to the farm....because it really is a farm. We got to feed the goats and watched them get milked...Garrett became fast friends with just about all of the animals. I have some great videos of Garrett making friends with some goats and a turkey....maybe i will figure out how to upload them.

To be honest, I am not at all sad to see the summer end. While it has been fun, I really love the fall and cannot wait for it to be here. In true Reed fashion, we will be cramming a lot in the months to come. September is going to be crazy since Clemson has home games every weekend, however it is really fun super craziness. And... I am headed to Missouri at the end of September for my cousins wedding. Then, in October we will spend 8 days cruising to Honduras, Belize, Mexico, and the Bahamas with some of our favorite friends, Adam and Mandy Brantley. I really can hardly wait for this trip....so fun.

In November Garrett's brother, Cullen, and his wife Amber, who we are very close to, will be returning from South Korea...where they have been for the past year. We cannot wait to see them! Also around that time we should begin our move to Charleston. In summary... we are excited about where the Lord has taken us over the past three years but we are also excited about where He is continuing to lead us....wherever that may be.

In a total side note... our apartment complex gave away free breakfast to all the residents this morning. I didn't make it to get any but Garrett did...he said they were giving away "Frescuits" from Wendys. He described the "Frescuit" as a french toast biscuit...which sounds super nasty to me. Garrett affirmed my thoughts and said it was truly disgusting...and as if the "Frescuit" wasn't gross enough on its own...they added a bottle of water inside the bag with the "Frescuit" to make it a soggy wet "Frescuit"...I think I am thankful for my piece of toast. Enjoy some pics from the past few weeks.....

Life is Funny

A quick update on the happenings of our lives. The past month has gone by super fast....in fact we have been so occupied with various things that were it not 1,000,000 degrees outside, I might not have known we had even transitioned into August. We haven't gone Heelying with our gang, "Heels Angels" in a few weeks now. This is largely due to the fact that two of the gang members were dating and recently broke up...that makes group events awkward (especially since there are only 4 local gang members). Here is a picture from the last time we went out as a group. We were celebrating Chelsea's b-day. Which was super fun b/c we made her dress up like a cowgirl and then Heely down Main St. in a dress.

We have also been taking Stabler on some serious bike rides. No Stabler doesn't ride a bike...he runs alongside Garrett while we ride our bikes. We have developed a nice loop that goes down Washington thru Cleveland Park and back up Broad to our apartment. It is convenient since the dog park is smack dab in the middle of the loop so we all get to stop and take a break. On the way home yesterday we stopped at the Rock Quarry Garden. (http://www.greenvilledailyphoto.com/index.php/2008/07/09/rock-quarry-garden-in-downtown-greenville/) There is a pool at the bottom of the waterfall that Stabler loves to swim in. When we got home we noticed that there were little spots of blood all over our kitchen floor. After 10 minutes of me trying to convince Garrett that the blood was coming from his toe....Garrett finally proved that it was in fact coming from Stabler's foot. I guess he cut one of the pads of his back paw on a rock while he was swimming because that little cut bled all night and even some this morning. I have been debating buying Stabler little dog shoes for quite sometime now.... I know it sounds super stupid but he runs several miles almost everyday on concrete and I worry about his feet getting torn up. So I bit the bullet and went and bought the shoes today. I have a super hilarious video of him attempting to walk in the shoes...unfortunately I can't figure out how to upload it. Let's just say I will be taking the shoes back.

Other than that we haven't been too overwhelmed by life...my parents have been in the process of moving over the past week so I think we will all be relieved when that is over. They closed on their house yesterday so they should be settled into the new condo sooner than later. Currently, we are on our way to Williamsburg, VA with some of our best friends Kristin and Marshall McCall. One of Kristin and I's roommates from college is getting married...so it should be a fun weekend. (and yes we are in the car right now...here is a pic to prove it...Kristin thinks she looks like an Angel in this picture...but she says ain-gel...you know like with a real redneck accent).

The Postless Blogger

Apparently I have become one of those people that starts a blog and NEVER posts anything on it (LJ Cutter you know what I am talking about). I have no new pictures due to the fact that I started taking a bunch when we got on our blogging kick but then I kept leaving the camera on so now the batteries are dead.

So, the latest happenings in our lives include: painting my sisters kitchen, my parents selling their house (no it was not on the market), starting the coolest Heely Gang known to man (i will provide more details on this at a later time), and playing a super intense game of putt-putt or if you are Kelly Childress, miniature golf. Oh yeah, and we have been working a little too.

I also got a new $7 wedding band because my real rings were making my fingers do weird things. From far away my new band is fabulous....just don't look at closer than 10ft because then it becomes obviously plastic.

That's all for now...don't want to over stimulate everyone with the excitement of our lives.

Turkey Legs and the 4th

I pretty much love the 4th of July. This year, Garrett and I attended the Greenville Symphony Orchestra's Independence Day Celebration at the new Heritage Park Amphitheatre. Garrett, my dad, and my brother-in-law especially loved this because they got to eat giant turkey legs.

I think my parents, who just returned from gallivanting in Europe for the past few weeks, were glad to be back and celebrating America!!! I n true Team Reed fashion, Garrett and I were ultra cool and dressed alike in seersucker pants, white shirts, and red accessories. Garrett was super excited to sport his America hat...my mom tried to convince him to wash it but Garrett insists that washing it is out of the question. He is afraid it will deteriorate and be lost forever.

We ran into my friend Jenn which was really fun. Out of about 10,000 people she and her daughter Shae (20 months) were sitting right next to us. They were there to watch Jenn's husband Chris because he was playing percussion with the orchestra. All in all it was a fabulous evening (the only thing missing was giant serving of banana pudding).

All I have to say is God Bless America!!!

Loving Greenville

There are about 1,000,010 reasons why we love Greenville...all of which we will discuss right now.... we kid, we kid! However, a few of them can be highlighted by discussing our evening on Thursday. I will say that I am beginning to realize that maybe Garrett and I have more exciting lives than I thought.

On Thursday evening when Garrett got off work, we put on our walking shoes and headed to our favorite local sub shop, Subway. Luckily before leaving the house, I noticed (during a wrestling match between Garrett and the dog) that Garrett had a giant split up the back of his pants. So, he changed..then we left.

We took our picnic dinner out to Falls Park (http://www.fallspark.com/index.asp), and thus began the beginning of an extremely intersting evening. After finishing dinner and watching Garrett and Stabler climb around on the rocks we headed in the direction of the Larkins Amphitheatre to check out Rythm on the River (http://www.rhythmontheriver.com/). Rhythm on the River is a summer concert series...they normally have beach music type people. On a total side note....anyone that was at the Brantley wedding in 2006..the band that played at their wedding, Men of Distinction, is playing at Rhythm on the River at the end of this month.

We didn't actually go into the concert because it costs $5...so we just stood on the other side of the river and watched...which a lot of people do (we aren't the only cheapies in G'Ville). I went to Ocha, a little tea bar, a got some bubble tea and Garrett got some gelatto from the Lazy Goat.

During this process, we had a 30 minute conversation with a group of Gold Wing motorcycle riders that were in town for the big rally (allegedly the biggest one ever). The people we talked to were from up North and they seemed to find Garrett and I very intersting...so interesting that they took pictures of us. Weird but whatever, they were nice. We also had another encounter with some Gold Wingers (these people definitely were from the South) and their dogs, Keisha and Razzle... I am not sure Stabler knew exactly what to make of them. You can't really tell from the picture...but the hair that they actually had was dyed pink.

We then ran into some friends, who Garrett talked to while I talked to another random couple about dogs for about an hour (which was way more fun than it sounds). During this time Stabler made himself at home in a homeless man's lap...which luckily the homeless man loved. After that we watched the concert while Stabler licked an unknown substance off Garrett's feet, which I have a video of but it would take a year to upload.

After that, we walked back home. I have to say that we absolutely love living in downtown Greenville....there is truly a ton to do and lots of interesting people to be met. If anyone is interested in taking a little road trip to see us....we would be delighted!!!

Post Numero Uno

Welcome to the first ever post on the Team Reed blog. Most people have blogs to update people on fun/important things that are going on on their lives. Our blog is aimed at boring you to death. Today we are sitting around the house discussing why Garrett should not order his Thai food extra spicy any more. He is experiencing the wrath of some super hot Pad Thai today.

On to buisness, things that are going on in our lives currently.... we are looking for somewhere to live in Charleston (we should be moving in the next 2 months or so). If anyone has any ideas on that let us know. Other than that, we just got back from a super fun week of vacation. We went to Charleston with Garrett's family for a few days and then we went to Alabama for some of our good friends wedding.

I could write an entire post on the trip to Alabama...however I will spare you. It could be summarized by saying that the brides family paid for us (and all of our best friends from college) to stay at this amazing cottage at one of the nicest country clubs. We had our own room and bathroom...with the most awesome shower ever. We had so much fun but unfortunately took no pictures..... we have a serious problem w/ not bringng our camera anywhere. Maybe we will try to work on that since we have a blog now. Hey here is a picture from work in March.... it was Garrett's favorite day at work ever....he got to hang with Ms. South Carolina.

Anyway, believe it or not we do actually work.... we will be heading that way soon. Maybe we will take some fun pictures there so you can get an idea of how exciting our life really is.

We love you all!
